I think a crazy person cannot tell the difference between objective reality and his or her fantasies or delusions. A weird person may have different opinions or behaviors, but has a reasonably firm grasp on reality.

the lady on a street corner by my house. yesterday she was waving an empty laundry soap container. she talks outloud and yells, but to no one in specific. she makes disjointed movements and random hand gestures. she also wears a jacket in 80 degree weather. she's pretty cool though. i like her.
