I think that anyone who doesnt read the book before seeing the movie is just ignorant. Especially Harry Potter. They aren't hard books to read. I'm positive even a third grader could read them and understand them fully. And I especially dislike it when someone says the movies are better and they havent even read the books. Even more ignorance. If you aren't a retard then read the book before you go see the movie. Otherwise it's just dumb. And those who havent read the books, don't give me this about how "OMG Harry Potter is soooo long it's like imposible to read!" If you think Harry Potter is long then you have to have the literacy rate of a seventh grader. So read the books. You would be suprised at how neat they are.

Books. They give more detailed information. Of course, the movies help me to imagine the world of Harry Potter better when I read the books. I love both. =)

I love Harry Potter. The books are way way better. The movies are good, but the books go into way more detail!

The books definately. I've never even seen the movies but I've read all of the books. To me they are more captivating and detailed that the movie. Compare 2 or so hours to 8+ hours.Big difference.

The books are way better. The first movies were good but once the change of director took over the movies became more boring and lost the original charm.

Books. Read em all. Never seen the movie. Tried to see the first one, but it was so dark I hated it. If it had the lightings like the Home Alone movies, I would.

Books...too much missing/altered in the movies, ie. POA Harry not getting Firebolt till end...he got it for christmas, GOF Not showing house elves, plus Barty Crouch Jr stealing Harry's wand to set off Dark Mark, etc.
I know they have to allow for time, but still...

Definitely the books, they are long but go by so fast that when you are done reading them you feel accompolished, but not pained. They are easy reads, but well worth it. The movies are good too, but I would have rather had the books if I had to choose book or movie.
