Most of us can use the intelligence we have to a much better extent, but many people believe we are born with the intelligence we have. Nurturing it does play a role in how well we learn to use it.

If you want to become more knowledgeable, read. Read all kinds of things from informational articles to history to magazines.

Consider reading about improving thinking skills and problem solving skills. Also learn about multiple intelligences.

By the joy of our innate talents. We are what we are. Be content. It is good to have knowledge and to be free and open to use that knowledge when the challenge calls.
Humans are on a self destructive course. This is our greatest problem. Disease is rampant in the third world nations, our second problem. People are starving, victimized, and families divided by war, this is our third problem. Greed and dominance are the direction of our day, our fourth problem. By 2050 there will be 7 billion people living on the planet. The earth is clear cut for human expansion and the last remaining natural habitats are being wiped out. What good is the intelligence of mankind if this is the result? The amount of intelligence applied to these problems are token compared with the potential. How may we be intelligent? Find your talents and apply them to a real challenge.

There a very good study publish by SA on how to became better in any thing intelligence to solve problems for example, the answers is practice, practice and more practice.

we only use less than 5% of our brains.
by increasing the use our brains
combining left and right brains with words, colours, musics and images
using mind-map, creativity, et cetera
work hard, practise a lot of mathematics problems
read scientific books, encyclopedias
travel and learn people's cultures
surf wikipedia
as well as talk about maths, science more often
