Hello,

I think the other answers are all good ones, (with the exception of the SAND PAPER! for goodness sake!)

Witch Hazel is great, as an "every other" day use. If you use it every day, I have found that it loses its effectiveness.

I would caution on the black head stick tool, though, some people use it with no problems, however, if you have sensitive skin, it can cause scaring.

There are several "home remedies" that work depending on your skin type. I suggest trying several of these for a 5 day to 7 day trial period, and see what works best for you:

First of all, I would suggest using unscented soap. Often times, people's skin break out due to the chemical perfumes used in soap. For your nightly routine, use soap and warm water with 2 wash cloths. Gently rub your skin with the soapy cloth. Rinse with warm water. Then, use the second cloth with no soap and warm water to help clean your skin again. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel. About half an hour later, use cotton wool dampened with witch hazel in the area where the black heads are to help cleanse any oil that has surfaced.

Also, you can buy food grade natural clay powder, (I believe they sell it at Holland and Barrett, if not check with your local health food shop,) mix it with boiled water that you have cooled, to a liquid paste and give yourself a beauty treatment of a proper clay mask. Apply all over your face, extra in the trouble areas, let dry and then shower or bath to remove the clay.

If you spend a little bit of time with this, you will find what works best for you. You will also save yourself some money and have healthy products that you use for your body and your skin.

One other suggestion is to start drinking plain (unflavoured) water. Start out with one cup a day, for the first week, and build up to a total of 4 glasses a day by the end of the month. This will help to clean your skin from the inside out!

I have listed a few references for you to have a look at below, as well as the Holland and Barrett website.

Good luck, and let me know what works best for you. :o)

Boots Botanics do a pore minimsing range.

I've tried everything from Chanel, La Prairie, Dermoligica, right through to Clearasil!

Use the mousse face wash twice a day, the face cream during the day and the gel at night.

Try to get into a good cleansing routine.

Try not to wear heavy make up and don't pick at the spots or try and squidge the black heads it only makes the worse!! You've probably heard that a thousand times but it's true.

It cleared my skin completely in 2 weeks, flawless! x

It sounds disgusting but the best thing you can get for black heads is this little metal stick with a tiny hole in the end. You put the hole over your black head and push and the black head pops out along with a snake of pus. Nice!! You can get them in the Bodyshop I think. And probably Boots. Nothing else works on blackheads though. I've tried those pore cleanser things that you stick on your nose and then pull off quickly, but they were rubbish.

For other spots, I would agree that witch hazel is probably the best product.

Cheaper and more effective than any miracle cure available in Boots - A bowl of just boiled water with about 5 drops of Tea Tree Oil in it - lower your face over the steam and place a tea towel over your head to make sure you get the full benifit. The steam will open your pores and clear out the gunk, while the tea tree will clean and disinfect the skin, leaving your face glowing, clean and black head free. Also as you have given it a thorough cleaning, it will prevent spots from developing.
