Bought a PS2 slim used and some DVDs won't play because it has a parental control setting. Asks for 4 or 5 digit code. Is there a default code? Can I set it to where there is no parental control setting?

When the parental block asks for the code, press select and enter 7444. That will reset the password and allow you to input a new one

i had the same problem two years ago with my PS2. i figured the code out, it wasn't too hard. it defaults to 0000 but that wasn't working for me.

so i tried birth years. i went from 1920 up to 1987, when i found out 1987 was the code, probably was set in 2001, for a 14 year old. i would suggest you try that out. unfortunately, when i found it out, i never found a place to reset it back to 0000 (and now i need to set a sticker under the system so the next owner will know)

i believe the next option is to call sony, or email them through their site, see if they can't help you. which i doubt they can. which sucks, cause there is literally 10,000 possible 4 digit codes

i didn't know about the thing uparmoredninja wrote, i didn't get an instruction manual, as it was used, but that's awesome to know. if that works, then thanks dude!
