Yes it was fair. Yosemite Sam is one of the most pure stereotypes - just a good ole boy that tries continuously and unabashedly using old tried&true techniques to get the job done

He took the role to prove he could do a serious part in hopes of one day becoming a leading man.........it is my understanding he got quite a few lucrative endorsement deals after this academy award winning performance...........
