actually, ignoring the two previous answers, YES, it is a great idea to use nuclear power. Why?
1) one power plant can run SIGNIFICANTLY more than one electrical plant. the efficiency and decreased need for space on a planet that's only getting more populated is very important
2) It's clean burning fuel. Because the reactor is a closed system and shielded, the only waste product is steam.
3) it's not that unsafe. the US navy has more nuclear reactors than every civilian company in the world combined and yet they have not had a single catastrophic meltdown. this is because safety measures with control rods and shielding make nuclear power much less uncertain today. Mistakes are few and far between, and generally the result of poor funding/planning/etc.
and to the person who said nuclear power generators would trigger a nuclear holocaustic WWIII, that is most likely incorrect. three mile island almost blew up, and chernoble's nuclear reactor did meltdown. If russia and the US could both take nuclear meltdowns and not launch at each other, we could be good to go. what we DO need to worry about is if iran builds a nuke and tries to launch at israel, since israel has enough nukes to basically wipe out the entire middle east.

There are proper uses for nuclear power, as in submarines, but to use a nuclear reaction to boil water is insanely wasteful. People forget that heat is a major pollutant also. And you need a lot of water for a nuclear reactor.

It's all good now since crude oil and coal prices is increasing around the world.
it's just that most people dont understand it well which explains the seldom use of nuclear power.

yes they are environment friendly meaning they do not emit carbon monoxides they do not pollute the air unlike other fossil fueled power plants their only drawback is the danger of nuclear fallout when an accident occur

No because if someone loses their temper they can trigger a world war of Nukes which would destroy the world. Its a bad idea as a whole.

It's a great idea because it is safe and efficient if managed properly. However, people can never get past the stigma of the issues and we will never see it.
