I love Japan. I have been teaching English here for over 2 and a half years. Living and working here is really wonderful. I'd come to your restaurant, if I loved in Tokyo. I live in Koriyama and I've met a couple of French guys here. Good luck with your new career and new life!

I like it a lot!
: )

I have to say though, the only 'bad' thing is the rush hour trains! Also, you DO have to carry your alien registration card with you at ALL times, because you have to show it to police or immigration officials 'on demand', but I've been here almost 3 years and no-one has ever asked to see MY alien registration card...!

Public transport schedules are quite rigidly followed, BUT, buses are slower than scheduled when it's raining because lots of people phone home asking to picked up by car, and this causes traffic jams - and the trains on some lines stop altogether if there's a storm, and if there's a medium or severe earthquake they will ALL stop so that people can check the safety of the tracks!

But that doesn't happen every day - you just need to be aware of weather conditions, and allow extra time when necessary. Earthquakes are unpredictable, but if you get delayed I think your employers would forgive you...!

Japan is a great place to live in. It's nice to go out and explore. Lots of things to see with temples and festivals. Public transportation makes life so convenient as schedules are rigidly followed. Food here is great probably at a similar price to France. It's fairly clean and feels pretty safe. Have a good time and enjoy it. Just remember to carry your alien registration card. They are pretty strict about it.

I like Japan a lot. Get into being a sommelier in Tokyo and you will make big money.

Go for it, sounds like a great oppertunity to get some traveling done and get a taste of their culture. I have heard wonderful things about Japan, their culture and their sight. It sounds like a once in a lifetime chance. I would do it.
