KQ is the airline code for Kenya Airways. KA was already taken, and assigned to DragonAir. Some of the airline codes don't make much sense - they just end up being assigned odd codes because most of them are already taken. For instance, the airline code for America West is HP.

Due to the logo - if you see it it's a circled K and it looks like a Q due to the fact that one of the "legs" of the K is sticking outside the circle - go on their web page and have a look!!! And each airline has to have a 2 letter code for flight schedules.

Similarly, my national airline - Singapore Airlines - is given the code 'SQ'. Nobody has an idea why the letter 'Q' means.
