diet is key....cut out sodas, or other carbonated drinks, just water and lots of it. Try to lower your carb intake and watch your calories as well. You should be at 1500-2000 depending on your exertion level throughout the day. Lots of cardio and stay away from ab excercises for the initial period. they will only swell you muscle and make your tummy look fatter in the beginning. Once you have shed a good portion of what you want to lose then start by doing crunches....

First exercise: go on the ground flat on your back. Bend up your kness as well. This is how your body should look like: o__/\_ (the circle is your head, the triangle your legs, etc.) Then, lift your bottom only and contract the buttocks. Hold for a few minutes. Then slowly go back down until you're nearly touching the ground and relax the buttocks. Start again at least five times more at first and you will eventually able to go to fifteen.
Second exercise: sit ups are very useful. If you find it hard to do the "sitting up part" without rolling over or collapsing in defeat, find something to grasp with your feet while doing it. Eventually, yet again, you'll be able to do quite a few for a flat stomach.
Third execise: swimming. Swimming is one of, if not THE, best exercise for your body. It uses just about every muscle; arms, thighs, calves, feet, etc. Go to a club ASAP!
Hope this helped and best of luck! =)

Hola Chica,
The key is to always sit up straight. If you slouch your tummy has no where to go but out. Crunches are great. Knees up and don't come up all the way. Also, get in position like you are going to do push ups, (The hard way), but hold yourself up by the elbows. Make sure everything is straight across. (No but in the air, no sinking stomach to the floor), in this position bring one knee to the floor at a time. You will feel that in you abs. It's hard to do more than 5 when you start. A stability ball works great for the abs as well. Denise Austin is great for helping women get into shape. I love her becasue she uses all types, Yoga, Aroebics, weights, stability ball, Pilate's, and Tai Chi, in her work outs. She is my source for all that I tell you.

To combat this problem, many weight loss programs as well as pills, powders and machines have arrived in the market. But doctors have expressed doubts over their long-term effectiveness...

well, you could always try some sit-ups. Just 10-20 a day, you know. But persist, and in a few months you'll have it!
