this worldcup was the first for messi
His performance during the Germany 2006 World Cup was somewhat of a disappointment to his many fans in Argentina and elsewhere first because he was injured...second because he was on the bench most of the time and i dont get it why.
i dont think people should juedge him because of one world cup and i think the new maradona will shine in the next world cup and will shine in barcelona as well
He is a player who is destined to have a very successful career in football. he is really highly creative

People forgot the fact that Rooney fought back from injury to play in this World Cup.
To call Rooney a flop is unfair.
Its also only his first and he was already heaped with the unrealistic expectations of an entire nation. If England has anyone to blame, it should be Sven Goran Erikkson, not Rooney.
Messi has already shown his stuff at club level. If he can stay fit, not be burdened by expectations and allowed to play his game, he'll definitely be be one of the stars in the next World Cup. However, Messi is Messi. As was Ortega Ortega. As Carlos Tevez be Carlos Tevez.
There will never be another Maradona.

Well, I think that your question is a difficult one to answer. First, because we don't know how good Messi can perform in a world cup as we have only seen him a couple of minutes playing for Argentina.
And considering that in four years a lot of things can happen; injuries, new players appear, Argentina may not qualify for the World Cup, aso we cannot say for sure that he will indeed be playing next World Cup.
But, let's assume for a moment that Argentina has qualified and Messi is part of the team. Well, I think that he won't be a flop, he really likes playing for his country, as he has showed in the sub 20. So, he won't be like Rooney. He won't be like Rodallega. He won't be like Maradona. He will write his own story.

England always hype up there players cause they have the biggest league to play in and that's why allot of people think England has such great players. but what they don't realize is that most of there top players in the Premiership are from other countries. it started way back with Beckham then it was Owens then now Rooney they are just simply overrated and they don't do ****. Messi will become a legend of this game and will bring the world cup 2010 home, and Argentina will be the team to beat next WC.

When Pekerman gave him the chance during Germany'06 he did very good, he even scored a goal against Serbia & Montenegro and he has become a key element at Barcelona. In interviews he seems very mature and knows very well he's responsibility as a 'star', something Rooney needs to work on. I'm sure Messi will shine in the next World Cup.

Rooney. Messi became instrumental in setting up quite a few targets. He went decrease back typically to assemble the ball and do what the inept Argentine midfield couldn't do (per chance Zanetti and Cambiasso might want to've helped there). i fairly do not imagine human beings anticipated Ronaldo to do something marvelous getting in. He hasn't fairly carried out something for Portugal in... properly ever. That leaves Rooney. He basically known like he did not care accessible. He might want to come decrease back to assemble the ball yet no longer comprehend what to do with it. He might want to have the ball in the attacking third and by no skill comprehend what to do with it. For a guy that led all ecu gamers in targets throughout qualifying and who comprehensive 2d in Premiereship scoring you would possibly want to anticipate so a lot more desirable. and compared to Messi who don't have the helping case with Argentina that he does in Barca, Rooney has high quality playmakers round him. That entire English crew is a flop. And basically yet another be conscious about Ronaldo... in words of goalscoring and playmaking threats, i might want to positioned Messi, Rooney, Villa, Fabiano and likely some more desirable prior to Ronaldo.
