The story touched me greatly. You see I live that life or at least parts of it. I am a gay cowboy. I travel the gay rodeo circuit, and ride horses, go camping and such. Yet I also live and work in a city. I have the same dream as the one does. To have a ranch of my own, a partner to help me work it and to enjoy that life.
I have yet to find my partner, and the cowboys today seem to be a rare breed and harder to find.
The movie to me just helps keep the dream I have inside alive in my. BTW the soundtrack is awesome as well. Listening to it takes me back to some of the outdoors sceens. Back to the great outdoors, cool moutain air and campfires.

While the time of the story is a few years back, and the place is somewhat different from where I have lived, I found the story very realistic. So many movies that have included gay characters exaggerate the circumstances or make fun at being gay. This was a serious story that is played out in real life all the time. People love, and people get hurt.
Sometimes I wish the George Bush's of this world would see this story, and place one of their daughters in the place of Ennis's wife in this story, and then tell me that we shouldn't fight for a world where every gay person can be openly gay, love openly and marry another gay person!

I was surprised to see two man kissing or having sex, because it is rare to see this on TV. But I like it. My thoughts: It was a little bit too long and first I thought that movie will be boring (you know, two cowboys in the hills. Not very cool or interesting) but than I realized it is actually a good romantic movie.

It was considered a break through movie due to it's content and mainstream actors and production. The story was well told and was a great representation of love in general. It was nice to see characters not depicted as stereotypical gays like a hairdresser, a poofy queen, circuit boys, a decorator or homicial mainac.

One of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Not a happy story, but a good one. No bizarre special effects, no stunt people backdiving from the top of a big tower. Just filmmaking at its best.

Love it, saw it in theater New Year's Day 2006, and bought the DVD later on. Very realistic, sometimes sad, and touching love story.

I thought it was a bit long, and it didn't have the impact it did on other people. I still thought it was an excellent film, with certain scenes that were captivating and intense, not to mention the amazing music!

I was slightly disappointed, actually. I didn't like it quite as much as I thought I would. Still an excellent movie, though.

...i saw the movie and it left a lump in my throat at the end, loved the movie because it was a love story and it involved two gay cowboys, not goofy stereotype gays, i consider myself a gay cowboy and it touched me...i know some gay cowboys in the rodeo curcuit, live on ranches and of course, alot of them have to live a secret life to protect themselves...AND should have won the BEST PICTURE award....
