No one can agree on the absolute best acoustic guitar player. However, a couple of my favorites are Leo Kottke and Steve Goodman. Sadly, Goodman died of leukemia in 1984; he is best known for having written the song "City of New Orleans," which Arlo Guthrie made into a big hit in the early 1970s.

i like all the answers but this is a very good question. i like james taylor, neil young, richie sambora, that esteban guy on tv, jerry cantrell, johnny cash, dave matthews, and brad paisley. this list is based on guitar skill, in no certain order, and not the music theyy play.
