i've had many questions similar to this one regarding the plot lines....i can't recall them now, but i never thought of it while reading this particular part..i find it easy to believe that there WERE anti-spells so that it wasn't that easy. however, there are parts that annoyed me where things could have been done to prevent things (i mean, they study MAGIC!)...but overall i think JK does a pretty good job at telling a continuous story that 'makes sense; most of the time

By summoning the Golden Egg during the TriWizard Tournament, Harry would have also been summoning the dragon. The egg was given to the dragon to protect as it would it's young, therefore, if he summoned it, do you think the dragon would have just stood there and let it fly to him?

First, dragons' have natural immunity to magic. The egg may have been warded by its' own species.
Second, I'm sure the people who came up with the test thought of that, and put spells on that would keep that from happening. Too easy, after all.

U think the wizards must not have thought abt it. Golden egg must be kept under a charm where the participant had to touch it to break the curse.

yes i suppose but then it would have been an incredibly short chapter. perhaps there was some sort of "anti-summoning field" placed around it. same with the portkeys in the 5th. people creating them left a right, in and out of the school.

dun be silly!ms rowling could haf figured it out while writing it!actually, harry can summon d egg, but thr r spells put on it by d organisers/judges to not make it so easy 4 contestants 2 win.also, thr r no spells prot. d dragon's egg!i mean,it's a creature, wht spells can it conjure??it can spit fire..fly abt, whip its tail but it can't charm its own egg to prot. it fr enemies, tht's why it was trying to prot. it like mad..also,harry's magic is limited,he can't summon a golden egg fr a horntail,he's not Dumbledore.

I daresay no it would have been enchanted so that spells like that could not touch it. But then what the crap do I know. I'm not J.K.R
