If god is almighty and loves all of us as equals no matter what and will forgive us for our sins due to his love for us.......why is there a need for a hell?

The concept of Hell is necessary to scare you into obedience. Its theological roots aren't the most solid.

A word frequently translated as "hell" in the New Testament is "gehenna." As it turns out, "gehenna" was the name of a garbage dump in Jerusalem. In the Old Testament, when you die, you go to "sheol," which isn't really hell, either -- more like "the grave."

Many Christians don't find the evidence for hell very compelling, and hence choose not to believe in it.

Listen my little sugar plum. God and religion were invented many years ago. It was a story that was started as an old wives tale to make children behave and then it was adopted by leaders to control the masses. It merely grew from there. Ever heard of chinese whispers? What better way to make a child behave then to tell them they would burn for eternity after they die if they didn't do as they were told?! All those religious smucks like nuns and priests who devote there lives to something that quite simply doesn't exist, are wasting their lives!

Hmmm, i have had another thought. If god invented everything, then he also invented hell. Therefore he doesn't love us at all. In fact he hates us because he gives us one life and then we are forced to spend it working our asses off trying to be good. And if we can't juggle family, full time work, a social life AND being good 24/7, he plunges us into the depths of hell when we die. And people worship THIS?

u know the film passion of the christ by mel gibson shows how jesus died 4 us and basically took the sins of EVERYBODY in the entire world on the cross. and actually jesus death on the cross was meant for God's chosen the jews but in the bible the book of ephisian tells us we (ALL NONE JEWS) are Gods addopted kids and if we believe in jesus and do as he did and follow what he says then we WILL not go to hell.

and to ans why there is hell, hell was actually made for the devil and his fallen angels(demons)but because the devil is jealous of humans for taking his place in heaven he wants to take as many on Gods children to hell with him but God is smarter and so he sent his own son jesus to make it easier for us to get to heaven and not hell.

I hope this helps sorry if it sounds like i'm preaching i'm not ,those are the facts.

For those of us who do not come to him and ask for forgiveness. Forgiveness is a gift if we ask. Some never ask and go to hell, but only after the white thrown judgement . See the book of revelations for more on this subject.

It's all to do with free will but if you consider life on earth, where you could hypothetically compare someone who lives in abject poverty with the threat of violence everywhere he goes but is happy with somebody who is so rich, there's no way he could spend it all, has a beautiful wife and everything he wants but is still miserable, maybe heaven and hell are exactly the same place in the afterlife but it depends on how your mind deals with it in the first place.

But if god is an evil unforgiving monster who enjoys seeing us writhe in agony, a hell is absolutely necessary.

As god is neither of these, there is no need for a heaven or hell.

Fear not.

Hell is a concept devised by Yer Man in the Vatican, Rome. He also said that birth control was all wrong and completely unnecessary, and that sex was evil, and that Harry Potter is for Devil-Worshippers.

Are you going to believe someone with their head so far up their own ....? I mean, REALLY ...

God does love us as equals, but He forgives our sins if we ask His forgiveness and acknowledges Him as our Saviour and God. Hell will be for those that do not acknowledge Him as God.

Maybe because we have always been inclined to associate good and evil, life and death, black and white, man and woman. Duality is deep inside us and it's part of our nature. Not God gives us the sense of Hell it's just us trying to explain to our narrow and blind minds and souls (sometimes) the dual layer of the world.

Good question, I have never understood it too well. It seems we are all dammed, and all saved and then some of us saved and some of us dammed based on pedantic aspect of not only doing the right thing, for the right reason and for the right deity... is it not enough to just try and be the best person you can be?
