Apply for a loan you know will be refused. When you are turned down you are guaranteed by law to get a free credit report from the reporting agencies who provided information to the lender. There is a time window, and you have to ask in writing.

Don't you have a credit card?

It is a bit of a pain in the butt, but I did that Free Credit Report.com thing one time. Yes I had to submit my credit card. But as soon as I had the score back, I called them up right away and cancelled my 'subscription'. It is a bit mis leading the way they go about that. With the name and all.

www.annualcreditreport.com

You can get a free, no obligation credit report from each of the 3 credit agencies each year. This does not include your FICO score.

www.freecreditreport.com. You still have to give a credit card number to get it, its just so they can get you to buy more in detailed stuff from them.
