For reasons unknow to mankind, I have created a transtarent .png image to be a background for modifications to my web page.

Anyway, ignore that ebcause it will confuse you. All I really want to do is make some text go on top of an image. :-)

.png is an extended image format. Also, I do not want the text on the image like that... I want the hypertext code of the text to overlay an image that won't actually really exist. You won't udnerstand what I am talking about, which is why I just want a real answer to my question.

If you're using Windows, run Paint.exe from the start menu.
Run Manually: Click Start and Select "Run..." -- Enter %SystemRoot%\system32\mspaint.exe in the text box and select "OK"
OR
Click Start, Select All Programs, Accessories, and Paint from that folder.
Once in Paint simply add text to your image!

Other program(s) for better text:
Adobe® Photoshop 6.0 or Higher *Recommended*
Simply append to your question if further help is needed.

*Ignore the Above*

Flash? Isn't .png a Flash format? Just insert the image within the program and use it as your background image. And add text within the layer. I think that's what you're asking. Sorry about the first part.

+ I understand but have no clue as to how to help. Sorry ;)

png is just an extension that lets you have transparent background just like gif, it is not nessesarily to be used in flash.
Png cannot be seen by some browsers.
Is your webpage using css for layout? You could change the z-index for the text so to bring it up, or use the png as a background for the selector if you know what am i talking about.
If it is founded on tables you do like this
text goes here

cheers :)
