To a certain extent, if people respect the differences found in others- race, sex, colour, tribe, language, religion, culture etc
It is when one group of people aspires to be better than the others that problems arise.

Examples of instances where multiculturism failed are Hitlers concept of Aryan Superiority, South African apartheid, the Israeli dominance of the Middle East, the Muslim concept of infidels and jihad, ....the list is endless.

But in small pockets across the world people do live in harmony despite their differences.

Yes It very well can!!
ONLY if the each culture DOES NOT try to impose & FORCE their culture & beliefs upon another culture.

If each culture would just live as themselves & do their own thing
& let others do their thing.. It would EASILY Work!
Sure we could peacefully share, in mutual conversation, about the differences in our cultures & possibly learn & grow from them & become great friends!

The problem is people can't keep their noses out of other people business... & are ignorant & have to put down & make fun of cultural differences to boost their own ego!?!? I guess

The ones that cause the most trouble..
are the ones who for some reason... HAVE TO BE -or- have to feel "ACCEPTED & understood"
(they have Narsasistic Personalities) & usually have some sorta of agenda to follow suit...

So they push their crap on other cultures.. FORCING a beliefs or lifestyles upon a culture by protestings or by law.. thus making it forced to be accepted as a "normal way of life" When it totally goes against the culture of the people........which results in TRUE HATRED, violence, & escallates into nasty wars & so on!

For instance I am a Christian.. I would have absolutly NO problem what so ever talking to an ordinary peaceful Muslim about our cultures, our day to day lives, familys, & the unique differences in our cultures
I find some of the things they do in the culture pretty neat...as they might my find something neat in my ordinary (silly) day to day life!
We would have no problems as far as I am concerned... As long as they didn't push their religion upon me & I didn't push my religion on them... We could talk about what makes our religions different & actually become decent, honest, friends. Just with differing views on how we get to Heaven.
WE could agree to disagree.

Alot of the problems that keep the cultures from getting along are either from Extremist or Radical religous sects who don't believe in free will from God...... or the ever growing plague of Liberal's with Agenda's that want to change the moral code of a civilized society.

(However,.Liberalism is not an actual culture... it is a sickness adding to the moral decay of society...But that is another subject.)

God Bless

of course it does for most average 'normal' people who like to learn about different cultures and traditions within them... if everyone respects other cultures it would make the world a much better place to live in... my answer: dont preach about ur own religion just answer questions if people ask.. sounds fair to me. All these extremists around are stupid and stop multicultralism from working and all those out to convert people's religion are even more stupid how can one wake up one day and say today im another religion what about all the traditions and morals they were brought up with during their childhood... thats utter bull ****.

It can do when people are open minded enough to respect each others' cultures, even when they are different to your own.

When some people (*cough*muslims*cough*) seem to think that everyone else's culture than theirs is "immoral" - needs converting, changing etc (ie we should all wear burkas and boycott pork) then it breeds anger and resentment.

If it wasn't for that sort of bigotry, it would work OK.

No, every time a new group arrives the country has to retool everything to suit the new group. No one is interested in being an American and blending in. They all want to keep their separate identities and have us pay for the welfare etc.

Many cultures don't mix well - remember "Crusades-2K3", operation get Babylon Again...

Most cultures (because of religion) have built in segregation and boundaries; eg: "Jew Only" weddings, "Protestant Only" weddings, "Muslim Only" weddings, arranged marriages, etc...

Multiculturalism sort of works, but because people in general are so thick it will not be a friendly society...

it was a nice naive idea that should have stayed in the lecture halls and never been put into actual practice. We only have to look to the European wars of the past thousand years or so to realize the dangers.

Didn't, isn't, never will. Lefty concepts never do, but then they are not designed to work, they are designed to create anarchy so as to match the internal functioning of their brains.
