weston super mare.....lowest crime rate for the population in the area in the uk.The weather is the best in the uk and the property there is not as expensive as cornwall and devon. Its amazing there. The kids do not spit and you can leave your car unlocked with having the stereo nicked. You can stay out at night without being mugged way past midnight and the bars are full of holiday makers looking for fun.Unlike London where i live too.

In a recent survey Bristol was deemed the happiest place to live, but much depends on what you want from a place.

I have lived in London, Scottish Highlands, Devon, Dorset, Somerset and Gloucestershire, but find a small city has much to offer without too many idiots! Bath is in fact my fav place.

St Albans in Herts.

One of the oldest Roman towns, very historic, home of the Oldest pub in the country AND has the most pubs per square mile than anywhere else. And believe it or not, one of the lowest crime rates in the country.

So pretty and lots of places to drink and easy reach of london but far enough away to not be ruined by it...could it get any better??

Clifton, near Bristol. Lots of history, lots of architecture (Famous suspension bridge) plus 10 mins stroll one way puts you in the middle of a big city with all amenities, 10 mins the other way puts you into the Somerset countryside!

Edinburgh - beautiful city, big enough to have lots going on, but small enough to get out of. Hills and sea near by. And the festival time in August is awesome!
