Is this normal? Her OB/GYN put her on the pill at 6 weeks and said that the pill should stop the bleeding. She says that one day it'll light, then the next it'll be heavy. I'm getting worried.

She's been having migrane's lately...she hasn't been overly tired however.

Have the doctor check it out. If the pill was supposed to stop it, it should be working by now. Could be that she needs a higher dose of estrogen than what she's taking. Other things could be causing it too, so she really ought to see her OB/GYN again. I thought I'd never stop bleeding after my first, but it tapered off at just about 6 weeks and ended a week later. MY doc told me if it last more than that extra week he wanted to know, however. So, I'd call her doctor.

All women are different. I know that with my first son, I bled for about 6 weeks very heavily and then for another 2 or 3 it was heavy.. but not really bad. With my second, whom I nursed, it was more like 2 weeks.. It depends on alot of things. But if she's not weak, or looks very white ( doesn't matter the skin color.. anyone can look pale).. if she's not having a hard time concentrating then she's probably okay.

If she is weak, pale, having a hard time concentrating, sleeping ALOT.. then there could be a problem.

She needs to go back to the doctor. I only bled for 27 days or so with each child. It may be a hormone problem or the doctor could just change her pills

That is a long time to still be bleeding but if she isn't having a fever, low back pain or foul odor it is probably in the normal range. If either of you is worried, call the doctor.

I've had two children. I never bleed more than four weeks. If she stopped bleeding and started back it could be her period. If she never stopped bleeding then call the doctor today. Something isn't right.

let doc. know. They may have to change the hormone level of the pill. There could also be another reason for the bleeding. Any other symptoms?

It's normal. With my first I bled for about 2 weeks, second child it was for 1 week, and the third child I bled for 3 months and they put me on birth control also....I'm fine , she will be too. She''ll just be really tired for a while.
