Red Maple is as tall as a 2 story house and it is a beautiful twisted combination of maybe 4 medium to small trees that are actually formed and married together throughout the branches and the trunks forming one tree. It gives off hundreds of babies in the spring. It would be a shame to not try to save this delightful and healthy tree.

Don't count on it. If it is a non-naturally occurring tree, you will likely have much chance of getting some organization to step in and foot the $2000+ bill. Plus maples are not considered as threatened or hard to grow so it is easily replaceable. Neighbors might appreciate it being gone, due to the heavy seed shedding. I pull up dozens every year in my mother's yard from a tree down the block, while they are pretty trees they are also a nusiance to some.

Most likely it will have to go......but have someone in the area knowledgable of wood to help take it down amd then saw the main twisted and conjoined trunks into lumber. Should produce some wonderful piecies suitable for picture framing, and smaller craft items where the character of the grains can be displayed.
