It does my head in, especially if I dream about being in a race or something, no matter how hard I try or how fast my legs go I just don't go anywhere. It's like "Scooby Doo and Shaggy running". Does this happen to anyone else and does it annoy you? Why does it happen? Surely you should be able to go faster than normal if you wanted to.

When I run in dreams, I go on all fours. It's great fun and I can run up walls, as well.

This happens to me all the time! I run and run and run and either it's like being suspended in the air trying real hard to hit the ground running or it's like being stuck in molasses. It is terribly frustrating! When I wake up I usually am more tired than when I first went to bed. I'm not sure why this happens, but sometimes it can be astral projection? It happens to me when I least expect it. Or, may-be you are trying to run away from something that you should be facing head on to resolve it!

This happens because your brain is preventing you from moving your body while you're asleep.

I saw a program on TV where they wanted to see if animals dream so they got a cat and put an electrode in it's brain which stopped that part of the brain from paralysing the body while it was asleep. The cat went to sleep and started dreaming and was leaping about it's cage and waving it's paw in the air as if it was trying to catch a bird.

Thus proving that animals do dream and that that part of the brain paralyses the body otherwise we'd all be trying to run and move our legs in real life whilst trying to run in our dreams..

I'm the same, and if i'm driving, the car goes really slow and also if i go to hit someone the punch makes very little impact!!! Why is that?? You're right, we should be able to be better at these things when we're dreaming!!! Glad I'm not the only one though, thought I was just weird!!

Yea it is horrible when this happens . I often feel like I am running in slow motion or thick mud in my dreams - especially scary if you are running away from something.
