You've asked this twice, I'm not sure which question you're watching so I'll just copy my other answer here.
Sounds like you most likely lost the prime. You don't give any indication as to what type of pool this is and how far away the pump is from the pool or difference in grade, so I can only give a basic answer. Fill up the pump volute ( front section with the basket) with water, check the pump lid gasket or O ring for damage and re seat the lid. While you're at it, many pumps have a small drain plug located at the bottom front. Make sure it's snug, they sometimes vibrate loose and will stop your pump from priming. Turn it on and wait for a minute or so. If this is an Above ground pool, it'll likely, slowly, get the prime back. If it's an inground, you may have to do this a few times and if there's a suction shut off valve, close it, when you turn off the pump and open the lid to add water. Turn on the pump THEN turn on that valve. Again, it may take several tries, depending on grade and length of run between pump and pool.
One other thing., your filter is clean isn't it? If not, the back pressure could cause a pump not to regain it's prime.
There's some other possible causes, like debris in the impellor or a bad shaft seal, but that's best left to a pool pro to deal with.

Yep answer number one has the clue. Has it pumped before you came here? Is the pump functional? It's possible it's lost it's prime,,,if in fact it ever worked.

No knowing the type of system you have,,, I've owned 3 pools, and they each had air release nozzles, a final trap, with a clear screw off lid, etc.

I'd check all your intake and outlet valves as well. I check for air in the clear top resivoir, releas all air possible as the pump runs, seeing that water is flowing through the plumbing, into the trap. If there isn't any water flowing, it's other issues.

Do you in fact know what positions the valves should be in for maximum intake and expulsion of water? Do you have a stainless steel filter bowl that might be air locked? Is that filtration system clean?
