I applogise if the spelling is incorect.
Alot of woman wear the traditional purdah but I was wondering if it came in other colours or if there are reasons why it is Black.
This question is not meant to offend it is something that I was thinking about.

purdah is what Indians and Pakistani wear, what GCC countries wear is called abaya and its black because its meant to make it less attractive for men but now you see it in allot of embroidery and different type of materials and colors

In India, they wear it in white/ maroon also. Also the purdah design also varies. Some fully closed gown type, some are open wrap arounds. The idea is to cover from head to toe.

It is supposed to be black for women but in Dubai I have seen women in darl purdah as well. like very dark brown or Marron or purple etc but of what I knwo its supposed to be black for a reason...

it come in other colours too..black is just a trend.
