There are many different makers of blood sugar monitors on sale just about everywhere these days. Buy one that you can afford with the features you want. The more features/capabilities available the more expensive the device will be.
When you get home or anywhere else for that matter, read the enclosed materials. It will explain how to use the device, the enclosed lancets (what you stick your finger with) and the test strips (what does the measuring with a small sample of blood).
The best time to test your blood sugar is about 2 hours after any meal, first thing in the morning and once before going to bed. If you should find your blood sugar above 140 mg/dl or 7 mmol, then consider going to your doctor for diabetes and/or medications. If your blood sugar is between 70 and 120 or 4-7 then you're find and all's well. If you should find your blood sugar is low, less than 70 or 4, then you need a meal or sweets to bring it up to "normal"
Good luck.

1. Use a home kit where you use a lancet to prick your finger and drop blood onto a reactive strip.
2. Yur doctor will order lab work.
3. You'll be able to feel your sugar level if your diabetic. ie if your tool low youll feel sweaty, confused, cold, clammy. When your sugars are too high youll have blurry vision, fruity odor to the breath, possible coma.
Take care.

Go to the doctor. Otherwise you need a home-kit that has Lancets,Strips and a test-meter.
