I think Communism is great and it could really work! Nations like the former Soviet Union & East Germany, and modern North Korea, Cuba, and Vietnam are not good examples of true communism, they have become controlling and oppresive, and that's not what communism is really all about. I think true Commism could work very well in the United States. Thanks for your opinion!

I must quote Homer Simpson:
"your plan works in theory, In theory communism works..."
It doesn't work in practice.

Wow- how many narrow minded people have responded you so cruelly.. some other say that Communism is perfect in theory... but not in practice...and some other say go live to a comunist country.. I whish they were, as matter of fact Communism have never been implemented in any country of the modern era.
I thank you for posting this brave question and don't be sad of those stupid and abusive responses.
The key to a true Socialism or Communism is that it has to be formed in such a way that will prevent anyone from assuming total power such as what happened in the USSR with Stalin. No one should be in a position to take over by force the power. The power should remain at very low level, descentralized and within each worker, the organization is the second key to true democracy or Socialism. In a true socialist society, no goverment will exist, yet it needs to be highly organized, and this is not even difficult considering high tec computers and internet. freedom from oppresion is around the corner. Socialism needs to be global though otherwise rouge states (united) will try to bring them down and will find any excuse to attack them militarily, so if there's a good place to start that will be the same belly of the beast, the US.
Keep fighting (intellectually) for a better world for our children and grandchildren and to end the oppresion of the master class against us, the workers.

Communism will never work in the US. The communist party's in the US are anti white and support placing minorities above whites even though Communism rejects the concept of race.

Americans are severely materialistic and slaves to the consumer culture, including communists in the country.

The leadership of all the current Communist party's in the country are lead by corrupt people.

i really think you should read more, my friend. ...communism havent worked in 90 years, and by the way communism is controlling and oppresive by definition. It´s controlling because its idea is the total control of the economy, and the goods, by the government. And its oppresive, because people will want to "do something" against this. ...The countries you mention, arent that way as a "coincidence".
On the other hand, comunnist countries arent democratical. Just think of a leader of any communist country, and you will have a dictator.
Communism may sound nice when you read it, but its already proved: doesnt works, and has been the direct cause of millions of tears, injustice and pain in the world. ...Take a trip to Cuba, stay there a couple of weeks, and you will see it for yourself.

I would not want to live in a communist nation, however at the rate that america is being manage, the only thing that is saving us is the constitution. think about it americans, what was our government doing when New Orleans was under attack by katrina dont think it cant happen to you. when all the americans in Isreal wanted to get out it took 7days to get them out, why did it take so long for our govrnment to start the wheel turning. Being an american today does not seem to carry much power so be very carful who you tell that you are an american these days. Some thing to think about

How many communist countries have you been to? None I'm guessing. I went to Vietnam in 2000. It's polluted, the water is filthy, the people are poor and oppressed, and the cops take bribes.

If communism is so great, why do people risk their lives on homeade rafts to escape? Why did the Soviet Union build a wall to keep people from escaping?

Read The Black Book of Communism and find out how it killed 100 million people.

I like your fantasy Idea about communist in U.S. and in my opinion if the theory is working it will be interesting to watch and no more immigrants in U.S. and no more 12 million illegal aliens in U.S. because, they are coming for Capitalism and money. The fun part is the 2% percents of wealthy who do not pay taxes will have to do labor as well as you and me. ( Ha, Ha ) No more big short CEO who make so much money than the labor people.Oh, we will have free health care for all the 44 millions of U.S. that no health care now should cerebrate about it.Those who do not pay taxes and have offshore accounts will not have fun no more.Wow everyone dress alike and line up to buy food.No one owns anything may be the system can help and reduce our National deficit and I have been told it was 7 trillions. It sound very crazy but I believe that any theory will always perfect by itself but when it comes to apply to our people we Never make it as such Cuba, China and the former Soviet Union. You are right that a perfect theory always works by it self but human always twists it for his or her own benefits and there is no more Principle in this world.

Communism is perfect... IN THEORY. The problem comes when people realize that they have free will and can exert their will over others. Communist leaders have a hard time staying true to what the type of government is about and so, they go on power trips.

Uhmm, no! It will be a disastrous affair. No motivation for inventors to develop ideas that grow into multi million dollar projects.

As proven by many such attempts at communism, it always starts up with all members being equal, but always ends up with some members being more equal than the rest. Thus leading back to social stratification or worse, tyrannies like the examples you listed in your question.

ok say we turn communist...... all of you people who have come from other countries are void you are not allowed to come to the US. yippee that would be great, there would be good paying jobs for all of us left here. ha you are so uninformed my friend. with communism at least we would have health care provided and money would not be a problem because food could not be bought with it read your history books again. no need for money for things we would not have. i think this country is becoming a dictatorship with out the commitment from the government to take care of us. we give to other countries when we do not take care of our own....... i hate this government. bush is an asshole. and i hope the end is near so i won't have to pay another tax to support another countries war.

communism in a pure form and in theory is a great thing, problem is, it cant translate over to the real world. Human greed will prevent it from working. Also i think a lack of releigion would hurt the people as well. Their is a need to beleive in a higher being and a hope for after death, without it, what do we have to live for.
