Unless you are running a fortune 500 company, have exaggerated inherited wealth, are a contributor of large amounts of $$$$ and resource for either party... you don't count. You probably don't vote and if you do , again if you aren't part of something larger ...than your vote means very little and your voice means nothing at all... that's with national politics anyway, your local Government may be easier to reach ..unfortunately they don't set policy. find 10,000 people that feel exactly the same way.. each contribute 1000.00 and then lobby your states senator.. perhaps then you might at least get a little airtime but it's just that tight. That is why we need to remove all soft money from our political systems.. and any politician regardless of orientation that does not promote removing the money from the system is getting fed by that same system and is failing his or her duties as a public steward.

Because the majority of people are not saying the same thing. you may be hearing the same thing where you live, but 25 miles down the road everyone is probably saying the opposite. Look at the last election

Because the majority isn't saying what the Government wants to hear.

because the people that are running the show right now have been running it for quite some time, I mean you don't honestly think George Bush took all of those votes the first time around do you? because he didn't, nobody in the government cares about the people, they care about what the big money wants, that's why we are over in iraq and iran again, for control of the oil over there, sorry I had to be the one to tell you all of this but our government is corrupt and evil

Because in this country it is NOT the majority that counts. It is the guy with the big bucks that counts, the industries that can toss money at the government to get their interests represented. This is capitalism, where only capital speaks.

They do, but the govt. knows more about what is going on than the people, and you can not just get out because they want you too.....it would take about 6 months even if they wanted too, if that is what you are talking about.....but the best part is, we have a President that does what he says, and does what he thinks is right.......that is more than most have done in the past.....living by the polls is alright, but not when it effects what is done.....we have done so many stupid things because of what the polls have said.......and lost creditability in the world because of it, even Bin Laden once said keep fighting and they will leave....to the insurgents in Iraq....Guess what.......not this time...thank God

Maybe the people in government think what the people are saying makes no sense. For instance. I have no idea:

Who 'they' is,
What things are the majority of people saying.
How do I know it's a majority.

See, if you are not focused, you don't make an impression, except on other people who aren't focused themselves.

Because the peoples voice doesn't count. The people have no say anymore. If our voices and votes counted, there would be no such thing as electoral votes. We register to vote, so the government will have an updated account of our whereabouts.

You have a president and congress that have an agenda and they do not care what the American people think, these are the people that we elect to represent us and that says it is time to elect new representatives, and hope that the new ones will listen.
