I have a broken ankle and 5 weeks into healing.

I overheard my doctors saying " the bone is sitting in a conservatory position" What does this mean please?

It means it's in the big glass extension out the side of the house. ;-)

Or more likely he meant that it's in a "healing" position, ie aligned properly to knit back together.

Hi well i work with bones all day and everyday so i will tell you. When Dr tells you the bone is sitting in a conservatory position its means in english its in a good aligned position to heal correctly. The new bone called calcium will grow around the fracture site and you shouldnt get no lump in the ankle when felt, the fracture will now heal together nicely unless the fracture moves then the Dr will have the reset the fracture so its aligned in the right position again.Good Luck

It's one of the many words and phrases doctors use to insult and take the piss out of patients. But I can't tell you what it means.

I can only think he meant preserved. Or in a certain position or fixture.
