Very difficult task indeed... but¨I will do my best:
1) Lenin. Not because I like communism too much, but because he created one the the states that would dominate the whole century.
2) Einstein, who not only defines our understanding of "genius" and not for his general contribution to science, but because his work led to the creation of the atomic bomb.
3) Hitler, whose war transformed the whole world and signified the end of one age and the onset of another.
4) Churchill, whose extraordinarily broadminded political thinking informed most of the first half of the century.
5) Tim Berners-Lee, whose invention of the Internet ushered in a new millennium and a truly new age.
This task is very difficult, so I readily admit that some people might disagree with my choice of actors.
