Oh my goodness yes!!! When I still lived in NYC I was walking from my high school to the subway.... Well.. When I got in the middle of the street with my umbrella a gust of wind came from no where and damned near flew me to the other side. I didn't cry but I got so angry that I threw the umbrella in the trash and walked the rest of the 3 blocks in the rain. I was soaking wet and I got sick because of it. Ever since then I don't even waste my time with them. I haven't bought an umbrella since. I just wear my hair in a bun put on a jacket and keep going!

Yup, just wear a raincoat. I lived by the coast and it was impossible to put up an umbrella on a windy day, so one has to look out for a raincoat....... What do the locals wear or do? they know their stuff, just do what they do.
