I thought Walk the Line was boring and Brokeback Mountain ok. cinematography in the latter was good but that was also boring in my opinion. also think that the Godfather trilogy is overrated.

Just out of interest does anyonelse find the film Glory with Denzel Washington a bit long-winded and appealing solely to men.

Superman Returns.....without a doubt is the most overrated movie of all time. Outside Routh as Superman everyone else was a mis-cast. And some scenes dragged for too long and Kevin Spacey, funny without a doubt but definetely not a Lex Luthor.

The End, a 30 minute satirical spin on how the war on terror indirectly leads to the end of the world.

Written by Nathan Eakins and Directed by Channel 4s The Plays The Thing it ran briefly at the west end but was soon axed due to threatened legal action.

most of the tos$ that the hollywood studios s punk out is totally over-rated.
I'm not really a fan of independent or 'arty' films, they're really tos$ too, but a little imagination goes a long way. I disagree with above, I thought the blair witch project was actually quite good, just 'cos it was original (I'd certainly rate it higher than 'Freddie vs Jason'!?!?!?)
I thought the matrix (first one) was good, because of the basic plot-line and concept, which were original (to me anyway).

The biggest let downs are the ones where they sign up a 'big star' and promote thew hell out of it, and it's the same old rom-com bollox.

Anything with a little imagination and a decent story is worth it's salt in my book.

Yes Tom Cruise films are bad but then I don't think they ever receive any critical acclaim so they can't be overrated.
Without doubt Quentin Tarantino films are vastly overrated.
The only good thing about them is the quality of the actors. The man himself seems a complete creep.

I would have to say Brokeback Mountain. It has gained such controversy. But I though I Walk the Line was awesome as I am a Johnny Cash fan. It did drag out a little bit, but I would see that movie again.

The most over-rated film I have seen lately is THE HOSTEL
It was over hyped and when I seen it I felt like turning it off halfway through but I thought Tarintino and Eli Roth there must be a good bit coming, but to avail
It's just plain crap!!!!

Lord of the Rings and all those - boring and way too long

King Kong! OMG - how bad was that?

Didn't see Brokeback - people said it was too graphic and nothing besides that

Walk the line was okay, great music if nothing else.

American Beauty - Huh??? Dumb

Taxi Driver

A mediation on the 70's lifestyle? No, just boring!

I thought that Bringing Out The Dead was a mediation on 90's lifestyle that was actually underrated.

This will not be a popular opinion, but I think that the star wars films are massively overrated. Initially they were intended to be children's films I think, with lots of cuddly creatures and funny robots that make silly noises. Then there was the merchandising with the star wars plastic models becoming a huge hit. But if you actually take the films separately from the public furore over them and watch them properly, they are very simplistic and merely take all the classic ideas from fairy tales of good vs evil but set them in an imaginary sci-fi world.

Personally, I think they are an insult to the viewer's intelligence and should have stayed as children's films as intended. (Kind of similar to Harry Potter perhaps!!).
