Insert windows cd
Restart pc
Boot from cd
After booting from cd, delete partiton
Then create partition
Format partition and continue with windows installation (",)

If you are wanting to format the main drive (C: drive) and reinstall Windows:
Put the Windows CD into you CD drive
Reboot from the CD so that the Windows setup begins
After you have done the F8 to agree, you will be asked about partitions and formatting the hard drive
Format the drive
Let the Windows install complete

If you are wanting to format another hard drive, not the main one, you can do that from within windows by right-clicking on the drive and selecting "format" from the menu.

sorry: How to Format a drive to install new windows! depends on which version of windows? winxp just put the xp cd in and load it and then install it folowing the instructions going next..... it wil format the drive by itself

It's automatic, put the Windows CD in the drive.

yep, insert the windows cd and let it do it's thing, answering and chekcing things off until it asks you which partition you want windows installed on, then you can format it at this point.
