I think part of it is economic, at least for the straight women who do this: They see a male/male relationship as a threat to their wellbeing in a heterosexual, married society. As far as the straight men go: Sometimes I think it is a way for them to get people's attention on a minority group and not themselves. I think too that there are supposedly straight men who do this and are secretly bisexual or homosexual themselves, and to be dead set against gays or bi's is an indirect way for them to deal with their own sexual urges.

this is a damn good question! why are ''straight" people so busy bad mouthing homosexuals? with all of the world issues going on- such as war, famine, disease... you'd think they would use their time and energy to so something that will change the world for the better. won't everyone realized that calling someone a name cannot change who/what someone is? wise up, people. quit wasting your time picking on people that you will never change and that you should not be judging in the first place.

Very simply: because there are radical gay movements that are manipulating to force the rest of society to accept their perverted viewpoint. For example: gays being parents, gay marriage etc.
Only in today's culture could this agenda actually be taken seriously.

Because people are busybodies! It's like the old saying "If you haven't got anything nice to say then say nothing at all" except people use it the other way around "if you haven't got anything nice to say then say all the bad things you can"!
It annoys me that people think that we are all like the gay stereotype...promiscous, feminine and bitchy...its not true!
