Hmmm, I was born in 1983 so I would have been 6.

There are some certainties, like helloween I probably would have gone out trick or treating to my close neighbours and my mother would always set up atleast 1 of them to do something to give us a scare. We'd always make pumpkins and stuff too.

Being England, and October, Im sure I also spent a lot of time jumping in puddles and running around in the rain. No doubt arguing with my brother (we hated each other as kids, but are the best of mates these days - funny old world) and being 6, probably going to primary school where I would have made a mess out of playdough and probably wee'd in the sandpit whilst actively ensuring all girls were very aware they had the lergy.

Good days.

I can only remember one day from October 1989. It was October 17.

I was watching the World Series on TV. It was the A's vs. the Giants, and since I lived in the Bay Area, it was pretty exciting. I plopped down to watch, and all of a sudden the whole house started shaking.

On TV, the fans were panicking and the players didn't know what was going on. It was the Loma Prieta earthquake.

I ran under the table and after a few minutes, it was chaos. The tv's didn't work and we only had AM radio. I wasn't all that scared, but it was a strange experience. Watching the damage of the freeways (880) was harder to do. Then we realized the magnitude of this 7.0 (7.2?) quake.

I know that re-unification day in germany is 3rd October - cant remember if that commemorates the fall of the Berlin wall or the anniversary of political union - either way there was a lot of celebrating going on in germany and i probably watched it on TV. Did germany play as germany or west germany in italia 1990? If played as germany then unification happened in 1989 if not then it was 1990.

I was in my first semester as a college freshman, celebrating my 18th birthday that month; I was a left-leaning Democrat at the time (oh, how times change, and people mature!) still grousing about Dukakis' defeat in the election. Oh, yes, and I was riveted to the news, watching the world I had grown up with the last 18 years crumble in Berlin.

We were getting ready to shift residence. I was so dejected. Then there was no electric connection at the new place. I was thinking of all the T.V. I would miss. I was in the 12th Standard then.

I was 19, working and recently started seeing a new boyfriend. He's now my husband of 13 years. That was a good year. Loads of clubbing & excellant dance music!
