I can't really give too much detail because to me that ruins the movie. Alot of people are missing out on alot though. The underground fires are unreleated to the girl. The story could be a little confusing to try to just explain. Simple part though is that their are two Silent Hills so to speak. The one is basically in an alternate dimension, which is releated to the little girl. The little girl who is on fire goes alot into teh ending as well. Like I said I really don't want to give away the ending so have to cut short alot of these details. Basically though the girl that was adopted and helped bring her mother to Silent Hill, where she learned the full story of the town, was a split off of this other girl. I swear it makes enough sense if you watch the movie. Anyway girl who is on fire is from before this split. The reason she is on fire is explained at the end, short version is this religious sect was trying to prevent any impurity from existing and so since the girl was born out of wedlock she was to be killed. Seriously though too much of the story leads to giving away too much of the ending. Anyway she wasn't on fire because the coal fires under the town, that all happened later. Personally I thought it was a good movie. As ot the creatures which ones? Some were basically the remains of people. Some were brought on to retailate against the religious sect.

First off, the downsides: Some parts of the movie seemed a little drawn out, the film was two hours, and at certain times, you could feel that. It's far-fetched, and I can imagine some people rolling their eyes at the storyline, and there WILL be some people walking out saying "that was a stupid movie". (As many people responded to Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.) Of course, some of them will be saying that in response to the sheer amount of gore and violence, which brings me into the 'upsides': This movie certainly had it's 'wow' moments with shock, anticipation, and gore, especially near the climax. Scenes and even alleyways and monsters from the games were almost identical. If you've played the games you will get a lot of deja vu. (For example, the camera goes crooked at exactly the same time and place it does in one of the scenes in the game.) Also, a lot of the sounds and music tracks from the games are used, and so are the monsters. The entire feel of the games is preserved in the film, and you will have trouble keeping your feet on the floor the entire movie. The creepy presentation works, and if you haven't played any of the games, this movie will scare you in new ways.

It's sort of a game to movie thing... Like Aliens vs. Predator...
The girl you mentioned must be Sharon and must be burning due to an unstoppable undergroud coal fire or something...
Sorry I can't add more... I'm a new guy around here...

it such a weird and boring movie that i wouldn't worry about ever watching it, but its about a man and a woman ( mostly the woman) that adopted a little girl. this little girl is from silent hill and her birth mother was tortured by her religious group and sister or mother can't remember. but she( birth mother) gets revenge on them by making this hell befall the town. in the end the little girl and adopted mother are dead even though they made it back home to the husband
