It's called a solar system because the sun is the major body that everything else revolves around. If you want to be technical, every object is actually revolving around every other object. The sun is just so gigantic that its presence overwhelms everything else.
The major thing that sets the sun apart from the other planets is that the sun has so much mass that it undergoes fusion reactions to give off heat and light. This is what defines it as a star. Every other planet (though hot at the core) does not do this.
See, the sun is not a planet because that's what we have defined. This lies entirely on our definition of a planet. A star is defined as a celestial body that produces light, whereas a planet is a body that orbits the star and does not have enough mass to create fusion. Thus, the sun cannot be a planet merely because science says so.
Hope this helps.

First the definition of the planet is not yet "finished"... As you might know soon we will adopt the "12" planetary system modell based on the new discoveryies and the Astronoms are "fighting" right now for a "complete" definition of the word "planet". After this, you can say whatever the "Sun" is a planet or not... But i don't think it will be a "planet" because it has the properties of a "star" : generates energy through nuclear fusion and therefore emits light.

while you're speaking with reference to the Planet X linked with the great 2012 Hoax, then the respond is not any. The sunlight won't be able to entice what does not exist. The sunlight's gravitational impact can artwork as much as the gap the place it turns into smaller than the gravitational "noise" of all the different stars interior the Galaxy. that is approximately 2 easy-years or so. although if, in case you had a rogue merchandise floating around accessible, its very own velocity would would desire to be slower (relative to the sunlight) than the get away velocity way accessible (that's rather sluggish). nevertheless, it occurs. There are some meteor that have been plotted (or perhaps some tracked with the help of radar) that have been entering our environment lots speedier than the image voltaic get away velocity at our place, displaying that those have been captured rocks from exterior the image voltaic gadget. yet Planet X became into invented for the 2003 end-of-the-international. The charlatans have been merchandising survival kits and books on the thank you to stay to tell the story. while it did no longer seem (no longer superb, when you consider that's pretend), they created the great 2012 Hoax with a view to sell extra kits, books and video clips. they're going to do it lower back for September 20, 2020. --- "pull it into the milky way." The Milky way is the band of light that is led to with the help of the stars of the neighboring palms of the Galaxy. that is thousands of light-years away. for this reason the answer to that area would be no for something, through fact the impact of the sunlight is in basic terms approximately 2 easy-years.

it had been established for the longest time that the sun is not a planet but a star but if you believe otherwise then i have to respect you but if you really want me to join you into believing it is a planet you have to give me a proof or an argument why you consider it as a planet and of course convince me that you are indeed someone to believe with not just someone pretending you know more than the people who said sun is a star

It is good that you question science. It's a scientific principle that every statement should be tested to see if it holds.
However, in order to question something as well established as the sun being a star in the center of our solar system you need good arguements. Do you have any good arguments?

I believe that you need more education. Start with spelling and grammar and move on to advanced astronomy. That will tell you that the sun is a star, not a planet.

If you wish to believe that the sun 'Sol' is a planet, go right ahead. Just don't expect to pass your astronomy class.
