Hey Lisa!
You and my partner would get on like a house on fire! He never takes the cold! it's either the flu or a chest infection, he never has a sore head but a blinding migraine, and when he gets heartburns ... It's a terrible bout of indigestion. He just sits or lies and look at me with puppy eyes, muttering "Can i get a glass of water please" because he's too weak to get it (So he says). Now he cut his finger last week, only a little cut, and spent the week worrying he had damaged tendons or others. He keeps complaining about his arthritis ... What he calls arthritis are natural pains due to teh fact that he doesn't exercise enough so of course ... When i make him walk ... He gets sore and blames it on arthritis. Now i've got over cancer, do have arthritis and i still get up and go, do what i have to and you know ... I've long warned my partner about the little boy who cried wolf! One of these days it will be something serious and by then ... Will i hear him out? I mean how can i differentiate between hyponcondriac and ill health?
So far he's had his stomach and bowels checked, had a few scans as well ... He now reckons that they may not tell him the truth! All they say is that he's OK could do with losing a bit of weight and exercising but will he do it? Hell no!

I get accused of this all the time by my friends and family. I have mild panic attacks sometimes, and I think I am having a heart attack. When ever I don't feel good, I instantly start reading medical books and looking up symptoms of all sorts of diseases online. I know how you fell, its horrible to be scared like that all the time. But honestly, there is probably nothing wrong with you.

I don't know about being a hypochondriac, but I in the passed 3 years have gone to the doctor for small things and usually end up getting surgery for weird unusual stuff. I am getting my own surgery resume happening these days. I can laugh about it now.

I have never questioned patients when people call them hypochondriacs. Most have a physical reason for hurting. Eventually it surfaces. My aunt who suffered headaches for years was called hypochondriac and in the end they found out she was infected with hook work pork type. It was all through her body and brain too. Nevery can tell.

My husband used to be that way. He learned to think negatively from his parents and family, who will go to the doctor for a hangnail. It took him getting a very serious illness and coming so close to dying that everyone was surprised he lived, to cure him of the hysteria. Now he sees himself as healthy and fit because he is.
Did you know that if you see yourself as a sick person, you will be a sick person. Our health is under our own control. I hope you decide to embrace life and stop hiding from it via your 'illnesses'. What are you afraid of?

Maybe hypochondriacs are right, and all the rest just wrong... after all those horrible things exist.
