I use shortcuts when askn n answering questions on this site like when im txtn does it bother yee?? young ppl ye kno what i mean by shortn words

It depends. In social situations, like texting or Yahoo! answers I don't mind as much, because it is just the written equivalent of using slang... There is nothing wrong with that.
However, young people need to learn how to write properly as well and to determine which type of writing to use at the appropriate times. It is kind of like cursing... It's okay to do in front of your friends, but don't do it at work or in front of your grandmom.
Nothing makes a young person look more stupid that using IM'ing prose when writing in a professional environment (school, work, etc...). In those types of situations, it is highly inappropriate.
As far as here in Yahoo! Answers? Go for it.

Yes, it's annoying. It also shows your lack of intelligence. Short form was invented(if you want to call it that) so people can save money while text messaging. While useful in a business environment, it has no place in normal written communication.

Yes,that's why spell check is above all the questions and answers,know,i wish people would write out full questions without abbreviating words!

The only time bad spelling annoys me is when somebody is criticising another person's spelling.......and it's full of spelling mistakes.
The words 'casting' and 'stones' spring to mind.

yea it bothers me. i'm a teen, and i msg and everything. like its ok and stuff.
i dont mind u or 2 or ppl and thigns like tht but i hate it when ppl start mutilating words and u wonder how totally became tot.
