Hi! Well, I guess you're asking about a Pap Smear? It's a test done on a woman, generally starting at age 18 in the U.S., to check the cervix for cancerous cells. A smear of the cervix is put on, or "smeared" on a glass slide, and usually another glass slide is put on top of that. Then the slides are put under a microscope to be examined. This test is done once a year on women, along with a breast exam, and as they become older, women get mammograms along with Pap Smears as a yearly check up for cancer.
