I've read a lot of questions and answers which seem to be pre-judged bcz of avatars.....for example a young lady with a blonde avatar asked a reasonable question and got an abusive answer bcz the answerer had seen her avatar, and presumed she was a bimbo. How silly.
Also, purely by accident, not design, I have a neutral.....er.....bi-sexual name, so nobody can guess from my name whether I'm m or f. I prefer this and I think I get more sensible answers.
I'm not putting this very well, but I think you'll get my drift....

I do not look like an avatar....for one. Secondly...what animated charachter would have he presence that i do.it shows in me, glows i me...and I'd have it no other way....why wouldn't you use a picture of yourself and simply come clean....I think they are darling...but I am all out of 'cute' so I go with what works. .....My own pic. You wouldn't recognize me walking down your street. I my case the answer is fair fine and good..as well your question is too. Why do people use avatars?
