Hey everyone, I just downloaded a mix tape from a artists myspace page. But when I try to open it the windows media player says this "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file" I tried real player and they said they don't have software to play it. Does anyone know what I can do to play this file? 10 points for the first person to fix this for me.

The file when I download is a .rar document.

And to the spammer who says I should shut the F*ck up and keep quiet. I should tell your dumb *** that I got this straight from the artist, so the download is legal. But I guess you would say anything for two points you yahoo whore.

Well, seems you got other problems next to that.
For instance, you got a problem with keeping your stupid mouth shut. You got a problem with just shutting the fùck up and going to a corner to die. I mean seriously, shut up.

[ Post Edit ]

Quite a tough mouth you got there moron. How about you cry some more about the fact that you're retarded. You got it straight from the artist? Do I care? Don't think so. You saying I'd say anything for 2points? I ain't as stupid as you. I only say what I see fit to say, to people I see fit to say it to. So how about, you shut the fùck up if you ain't got anything useful to say.

Again, yours faithfully, D.

You piece of sh!t fùcker ever stop crying? Man go blow a goat ffs, I told you to shut up if you ain't got anything useful to say.
Peace out, D.

Windows Media Player 11 has more codecs than before, but if you're low on bandwith you'll be better rewarded downloading one of the following,
k-lite mega codec pack(with BS player)
ACE codec pack
Cole2k codec pack

These are in order of recommendation, I've tried them all and have k-lite- it plays almost anything on BS player and introduces new codecs for WMP also. Do a google search and download for free.
Hope your file works now(also it'll be best if you set file extensions to be displayed for all file types lest you fall prey to a bogus file)

It might help if you told us what the file type was. What's the file extension?
Media player might not have the codec installed or the file might be corrupt.

If you right click on the icon of the file, you will see a menu, at the bottom of the menu , see properties, click on it, then a new window opens, where you will see the filename and its extension. Which will help you to decide the type of the file.
