Oranges, I am a proper geek for knowing this but carrots used to be purple...they got bred to be orange due to Royal preference but here in England purple carrots are coming back...I read it somewhere a couple of month ago...

Orange is, in my opinion. An orange is true to it's own nature, it can not be compared to a carrot; which is perhaps orange as well but not as orange as the orange itself. Orange you glad you asked? LOL, couldn't resist!

Carrots are actually purple! Honest, that is their natural colour! The variety we associate with 'carrots' is a hybrid created in honour of William of Orange!

Did you know that carrotts were originally purple? The dutch changed them to orange to fit the William of Orange scenario.
