One line lyric is
"Sweet dreams and fine machines in pieces on the ground" from Fire and Rain by James Taylor b/c it is a brilliant line....

For a whole song it is Thats the Way by Led Zepplin (here is a sample) b/c i find the lyrics quite moving.....

And yesterday I saw you standing by the river,
And weren't those tears that filled your eyes,
And all the fish that lay in dirty water dying,
Had they got you hypnotized?

And yesterday I saw you kissing tiny flowers,
But all that lives is born to die.
And so I say to you that nothing really matters,
And all you do is stand and cry.

I don't know what to say about it,
When all you ears have turned away,
But now's the time to look and look again at what you see,
Is that the way it ought to stay?

Is This The World We Created? by Queen.
The words and music are by Freddie Mercury and Brian May.
It's kind of a wake up call but we are still deaf to it.

«Just look at all those hungry mouths we have to feed
Take a look at all the suffering we breed
So many lonely faces scattered all around
Searching for what they need

Is this the world we created?
What did we do it for?
Is this the world we invaded
Against the law?
So it seems in the end
Is this what we're all living for today?
The world that we created

You know that every day a helpless child is born
Who needs some loving care inside a happy home
Somewhere a wealthy man is sitting on his throne
Waiting for life to go by

Is this the world we created?
We made it on our own
Is this the world we devastated
Right to the bone?
If there's a God in the sky looking down
What must he think of what we've done
To the world that He created?»

For me lyrics that really touch me are Elton John's "Tiny Dancer"

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand

Jesus freaks out in the street
Handing tickets out for God
Turning back she just laughs
The boulevard is not that bad

Piano man he makes his stand
In the auditorium
Looking on she sings the songs
The words she knows, the tune she hums

But oh how it feels so real
Lying here with no one near
Only you and you can't hear me
When I say softly, slowly

Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
you had a busy day today

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand

The words in this song just hold some very good memories for me.

Jewel lyrics:

"Wouldn't it be nice if I could melt myself like ice, or out-run my skin and just be pure wind,"

I think everyone feels or has felt this way at some point in their lives.

AND

"Maybe if we are surrounded in beauty, someday we will become what we see,"

Maybe...??

every time I close my eyes, you're frozen in my mind as the child you will never be again............Natalie Merchant and the 10,000 Maniacs.........Our Time In Eden

because my daughter lives with her father and has been through so much. Natalie knew my soul when she wrote that song.
