As a young woman I always wore high heels as I felt like a duck in flat shoes! (Plus, heels were very fashionable then). I can't remember ever having a problem, and I'm sure that once you've mastered the walk, you'll feel so elegant. You need to imagine yourself as a model - hold yourself very tall and as you walk, point the foot that's going forwards, slightly outwards and place the heel of that foot almost in line with the other foot, but very slightly to the side. (Sounds complicated, but it isn't, just hard to explain!). The shoes need to feel comfortable when you put them on, otherwise you'll never master it. Try to wear the shoes a lot while you're at home, so that you can get used to the 'feel' of having your feet in this new position, and to practise the rythmn of your new walk. Have a great day and remember to walk tall!

Swinging your hips does come naturally when walking in heels, try not to walk to much using the heel to toe method if you are wearing very high heels this could cause the heel to break, try and balance your weight over the whole shoe. Also if you are not an expert in wearing heels make sure you have a shoe that keeps your foot in secure, back less shoes are no good, too difficult to think about keeping them on your feet and at the same time thinking about how you are walking

Definitely get comfortable heels. Dune do good ones I think. I have some 4 inch ones from there that are so comfortable - they tie up around the ankle which is great as it adds a little bit of support. Also if you like an intermediate try a high wedge to start with they are like the stabiliser phase. Maybe watching footage of fashion shows can help the models usually wear heels and never seen one fall over! And if you're feeling very brave or worried maybe a friend will video you so you can see how it looks and follow advice from UK natives a few answers back that I think is really good.

I wear stilettos.
1) Get Dr Scholls insoles for heels. Really good.
2) The best way to walk in heels is like you're walking on tip toes. Works well.
I am a high heel wearing expert lol! Ask my bf, but one time I ran thru the airport in 5" hi heel slides! Practice makes perfect :)!

The best way I have found it to lean back slightly and put one foot in front of the other (a bit like on a catwalk) seems to help balance; especially as at a wedding you'll probably consume a vast amount of alchohol so good idea to get some practice in (with the shoes not the booze)

heels takes lots of practice to be good at . i have been walking in them for 20 yaers and depending on the height of the heel determined how easy it it.try wearing a shorter heel to practice then move up . you will find as you master the lower ones then 4 and 5 inch wont be so hard ..GOOD LUCK

Pratice practice practice! I am getting married soon so have started wearing heels to work (higher than my Wedding shoes though!). I figure that if I practice wearing higher heels I'll be fine on the day!

Walk with one foot in front of the other. Relax your feet. And don't slouch forward because that will make you lose your balance.

Wear them around the house instead of slippers. You'll get used to them soon. Do everything in them. Dance, cook, go up and down the stairs. That way you'll get lots of practise and be able to walk in them.
