I have a nice rosewood table, and whenever my kids manage to scratch it, I use Pledge furniture oil on it. It's orange scented and orange colored. Note that it is oil, not spray.
When I apply this oil, the fine scratches disappear for around a month. When they show up again, I just use the oil again.
It is easier than hiring someone to repair the table, and it works.

Well I have kids and scratches galore..But I have hard wood floors and wood tables and what I use is this stuff you can buy at Wal-Mart ,Target or really any cleaning supply store and it is called Old English. The small bottle is tinted so it helps cover nicks and scratches and it is so easy your kids could do it..They also have cleaners called Old English just for wood surfaces..Thanks hope this helps MELODY

alright what you want to do is remove the polyurethane that is on it by sanding with a 150 grit sand paper do the surronding area in a circular motion then go over it with a fine 320 grit then get some fast drying polyurethane and do about 6 coats and sand with 400 grit each time lightly and then dust it and repeat that till it looks nice... so coat dry sand dust repeat....

In hardware stores or Kmart or Walmart, look in the paint or tools section. They sell sticks that look like crayons, in different colors. Find the color you need and rub the stick over the scratch, very lightly.
