NO!! They are very useful but they are just the latest electronic fad that everyone wants to play with. I would estimate that 90% of all mobile phone traffic is worthless rubbish and serves no other purpose than to amuse the sender.

yes, in case we need to contact someone in urgent need, or if there is no communication tool around, a mobile is easy to carry around with you. also, they show how advanced and sophisticated a person is, and how quickly they can adapt to the technology.
