Below is a link to data to figure out what you need.

I've been living in the Caribbean and running boats for 30 years and here's my experience.

1st you didn't say where you are, but in the USA or Britain a 10 passenger boat has to meet a LOT of safety and engineering requirements form the Coast Guard(s) ........

2nd, based on running small passenger boats, you're going to need about a 50 to 75 horsepower engine to run a10 pac boat...
50 hp is 37,500 watts.

3) a 4 foot by 2 foot solar panel puts out about 1000 watts for about $600.00 each.

4) You will need batteries to store the energy put out by the panels when the motor isn't running...check the specs on a 4D ( a US measurement) battery and then figure the huge number you'll need

I hope you can pull this off; so far I have seen no successful examples even down here in the Tropics, which doesn't mean it cant be done; you just have to do some math first.

Vetus, a big Swedish ( I think) marine company, does make an electric motor for small boats.see what their power draw is and go from there.

Good Luck!

I doubt if it will work because unless you have a tremendous number of solar cells and a converter, you will not be able to use an A/C motor. Now if you had the number of cells needed and a converter, you would be able to use them as long as your source of light (Sun) were available, when the light is gone, the cells no longer produce electricity and unless you have a bunch of batteries the store the power, you will not be able to continue. So you need solar cells, a storage capacity for the electricity, one or more converters and a large enough motor to do the job.
