"You are already that which you are seeking". With this understanding can I proceed to realise the Self without the help of a physical Guru? The doubt arises because my mind always says that search is within and not physical. And Ashtavakra says that "he who desires to attain Brahman does not attain Brahman and he who does not desire to attain Brahman attains Brahman"
What to do now? The objects of senses should be considered as poison and I cannot desire to attain Brahman and my mind says search is not physical. But the SELF has to be realised to go beyond sorrow. What should I do in this dilemma?

Realizing the self, the eternal spirit soul, ie, your real identity, may be possible without the physical manifestation of a guru, but this not the end of the journey. This the beginning.

Perfection of our life begins with self-realization and ends with our complete surrender in pure devotional service at the lotus feet of Sri Bhagavan, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. There are three phases of spiritual realization -- Brahman, Paramatma and Bhagavan. Brahman realization may be compared to seeing the sunshine, while Paramatma realization, the localized expansion of the Lord in everyone's heart, may be compared to seeing the sun globe. And Bhagavan realization is like seeing the sun god, the presiding deity of the sun himself. All three phases are different degrees of understanding the same subject. This information is in the Srimad-Bhagavatam first canto.

I understand that this information may not have been instructed by Ramana Maharshi or his followers. When you are on a lower rung of the spiritual ladder you cannot speak of that subject which you have not attained yet. But when you are on the top rung, you can speak of all the lower realizations because you pass them on the way up.

All energies are controlled and owned by the Lord, physical, spiritual and marginal. Therefore, when the Lord witnesses the sincerity of a person, he makes the arrangement for them to make further progress by meeting His pure devotee. Achieving perfection without a physical guru is possible, there are instances in history of this happening, but it is very rare. Generally we require someone physically present so that we may inquire and render service to the guru. This the standard procedure for making spiritual advancement.

Good luck on your journey.

No need for Guru. Just listen to your inner self. Open your eyes to reality accept the things that are unacceptable and be simple. Do well and think positive. Then, without your knowledge, it's there already wherein you are going up to the second level of consciousness. Don't entertain the negative attitudes of the people around you. Think positive and you will be the only one radiating and spreading the positive aura. You will be that one little candle in the dark shining that go beyond sorrow.

Indeed! And right now!!!

You just have to understand that you already are that which you seek to realize.

Since you come from Hinduism, you might start by reading some Buddhism first, to forget all about gurus, senses, poisons, and all that stuff, and then "upgrade" to Epicureism. You won't regret it. Give it a try.

Start treading the path. You seem to be beating round the bush. See your aim very clearly, the path to it comes automatically. Do not at any time let the aim go off your sight.

Sathi
All the answers are within you.
Don't fight them
Let them flow inside and out
You're struggling without the need
for it, so perhaps you may need
a Guru's assistance.
