I don't think most Americans "love" New York. I visited New York once. That was enough for me. My guess is that the vast majority of Americans have not visited New York and don't intend to.
New York is a large city, so they have more of everything, good and bad.

I am an American and I have no desire to visit New York City at all.....It is at the bottom of my list for big US cities.

A lot of Americans love NY because that is a place where most of our ancestors immigrated from their original home countries. It is kinda like where most of us came from. Plus there is lots too do and see in NY. I hope this helps you understand.

I don't love NYC but it's so unique. It feels gritty there and after spending a day walking, shopping and taking the subway I feel like a good shower is necessary!

Ive never been to NYC but i would like to visit because it seems like an awesome place to be in. They have all the great sights to see and not to mention all the fablous broadway shows! :)
