Since the Gmail is a Beta Version. They ll not allow to create an E-mail id, like yahoo and other free mail accounts.
Ask any of your friends to send an invitation to your e-mail then you are able to create a Gmail id.

a member having gmail id should invite u to have a gmail id. Only then can u register an id.

if u want creat a gmail id can not make your self directly. for this need a invitation. if someone invite u for that u can creat u g mail id
